Safety Guides & Resources

Everything you need to know before, during, and after an ayahuasca ceremony in Colombia.

Why Safety Comes First

Ayahuasca tourism in Colombia is growing rapidly — and not all of it is safe. Unvetted ceremonies, untrained facilitators, and a lack of medical screening have led to preventable tragedies.

This site exists to provide clear, evidence-based information so that anyone considering ayahuasca in Colombia can make informed decisions about their safety and well-being.

We are not affiliated with any retreat center. We don't promote ayahuasca use — we provide the information you need if you've already decided to explore it. Our role is to help you do so as safely as possible.

A vetted retreat directory is currently in development. Every center listed will meet a published set of safety standards covering medical screening, facilitator qualifications, emergency protocols, and participant aftercare.

Evidence Over Marketing

Our information is grounded in published medical research, clinical guidelines, and documented safety protocols — not promotional claims from retreat centers.

Cultural Respect

Ayahuasca is sacred to the Cofán, Inga, Kamsá, and other indigenous communities of Colombia. We approach these traditions with the respect they deserve.

No Conflicts of Interest

We don't accept payment to recommend specific retreats. When our directory launches, every listing will meet the same published safety standards.

Vetted Retreat Directory

We're building a directory of ayahuasca retreat centers in Colombia that meet published safety standards.

Currently Vetting Retreat Centers

Every retreat in our directory will be evaluated on medical screening protocols, facilitator credentials, emergency preparedness, group sizes, integration support, and cultural authenticity. Check back for updates.
